Dump Cake Gluten Free
Let’s be honest here for a bit. If you can’t already tell, I’m lazy. No. That’s not right. I work hard, when I have to. But, if there is an easy way to do things, why not? I would love to sew my own clothes from wool I just sheared from the sheep I raise, and hand roll my own pasta, and then garnish it with herbs from my freshly weeded garden in my back yard. I don’t have time for that. Nor do I have the patience. I’m not saying those things are bad, I just value my time differently. Which is why I appreciate this dessert. You throw stuff in a baking dish, stuff it in the oven, and an hour later you have a delicious dessert.
Also, while we are at it- if you’ve come to this site for perfectly curated photos of plates of food and fancy recipes, you might as well move on. This site is about everyday, non-fancy, food that anyone can make that also happens to be gluten free. I am non-fancy, and a work in progress. I make mistakes, and am learning this lifestyle as I go. Okay, now onto the dump cake!
I first had dump cake while living in a Southern state. We had ordered take-out barbecue, and decided to get the dump cake as a dessert. I had never had dump cake before. It was like a kiss from an angel on my tongue! And then I found out how easy it was to make! I was enamored.
Here is my gluten free version of dump cake, adapted from this recipe: Dump Cake
I can’t stress enough how simple and delicious this dessert is. Perfect for Summer barbecue parties! We have had both the gluten, and gluten free versions, and cannot tell the difference. The beauty with this recipe is, that you can get creative! Want to try different fruit? Go for it!
We usually serve this with Redi-Whip, or gluten free vanilla ice-cream. Or in the case of my husband, both.
(Note: I don’t have an after shot of the baking- husband dug in before I could snap a picture. I’ll be quicker next time!)
